Essential Oil Quality Test- DIY. Basic Purity Check
Here are the basics when it comes to checking the purity of your essential oils, especially the labels that read 100% pure or therapeutic grade. Essential oils are not cheap! Make sure yours aren't cut with solvents, oils, alcohol, or all three.
Essential Oils should never feel greasy.
If the essential oil feels greasy on your fingers, it could mean that your essential oil has been extended with vegetable or carrier oils.
Step 1- place a drop on your fingers
Step 2- rub your fingers together and feel the essential oil. Does it feel greasy, waxy, or really oily?
Step 3- Properly remove essential oils. Check out more in the safety Section of the Jubel OIls Essential Oil Guide
Essential Oils shouldn't dissolve or get milky in water
Essential oils that do are probably to be used in cosmetics or industrial. They contain emulsifiers.
Step 1- Place a drop of essential oil into a glass of water.
Step 2- Stir the water for about 5 sections
Step 3- Observe. Does the oil dissolve into the water?
Test 3- Essential Oils should never smell like Alcohol
Its simple, if you smell any whiff of alcohol in your essential oils, it has been extended.
Step 1-Drop some essential oil onto a cotton swab. At least 10 drops.
Step 2- Pick up cotton swab and hold it about arm's length away, and below the nose.
Step 3- With your other hand, gently waft the air up to your nostrils. Do you smell any alcohol, hand sanitizer type smell? If so it has probably been extended and is not pure.
